Not so profound

What? I can’t pull thoughtful well created posts out every day.

Besides right now I am trying to think good thoughts and not catch whatever stomach ick that Little J has. Hmm that reminds me I haven’t has enough Vitamin C yet today.

Really glad that the boys no longer share a room. Makes it easier to keep them quarantined.

sick days

Yesterday we went to the park at 9:40am.  J played and then rested intermittently.  then at 10:20 he was begging to go home.  On the 15 minute drive home, he would have fallen asleep if it weren’t for Little J’s chattering.  When we got home I gave him the choice of staying home in bed or going to school.  He originally picked go to school and then quickly changed his mind.  He didn’t have any fever.  Every once in a while he would say his tummy hurt and then it would be better 5 minutes later.  But we got home and he took off his clothes and got in bed with a few books and was content to stay there.  About 15 minutes after school would have started this is what I found:

That would be his head and hand asleep in his book.  He slept like that for 90 minutes.

Today he stayed home as well.  I woke up at 5am with the stomach flu from hell.  A walk to the kitchen felt like a 20 hour marathon.  I gave him the choice again to stay home and he took it, but didn’t seem to sick.  Although at some point him and LittleJ put themselves down for naps while I slept in the dark dark bedroom.  I feel like I am on the mend now.  So far I’ve kept down a pedialyte Popsicle and half a glass of water.  May go for the saltines in an hour or so.  My head is down to a mild throb.

Oh and what I had for dinner last night was SPICY.  So it seared my throat this morning and I couldn’t talk without the vibrations bringing on waves of nausea.  I used my cell phone for texting requests.  Ahhh technology.  Hubby had the day off but stayed up all night so he was only so helpful till about 9am.

P.S. lately my blog has been getting tons of search hits from the “stomach bug” tab.  It feels like it was a warning.

Round 2

Turns out that the nuggets were really liked.  J was in the beginning of a stomach bug, and he never eats well the night before he is going to throw up.  He got up this morning at 6, got in bed with me and told me his tummy hurt.  He started hacking and I got him out as fast as possible.  When he got to the bathroom nothing really happened, bt he did have a fever.  I set him up on the couch with a big bowl and some cartoons.  Then it happened.  And as soon as it was out of his system, he was better and himself.

Today we were all suppose to walk in a local autism walk as a family.  J and hubby stayed home while Little J and I walked.  J was kinda mad b/c I had told him last night that we were doing something special today.  When I left him this morning, I promised that if he didn’t throw up again, I’d take him somewhere fun tomorrow after church.  Here’s hoping Little J doesn’t get this quick bug.

So tonight I served up the left overs.  He asked for honey instead of ranch and I obliged.  We got some local honey last month to try and help desensitize us to desert allergies.  (It is some of the best honey I have EVER had.)  Well the nuggets and honey vanished in no time flat.  Little J ate some more of his too.  Another wheat free success.

The bug that wouldn’t leave

The kids are taking turns who throws up at 3 am now.  Last night it was Little J.  J seemed fine for the past 48 hours so we assumed school wouldn’t be a problem.  30 minutes into class and 15 minutes into my date with DH we got a call saying he had diarrhea all over himself and the floor.  By the time we got to the school he was cleaned up and sitting in the circle for songs and story.  They let him stay and finish the alphabet phonics song.  I’m glad we did, I’ve caught snippets of it for the past 2 weeks but now I have a frame of reference.  I really want to get a sitter for Little J after the new year and go in for a whole class to see exactly what they do.  I love seeing J in his element and it is easier to talk to him about his day, work on communication, and memory if I know what I’m asking about.

He’s been fine the rest of the day, but neither of them ate much dinner and that is usually a sign of more sickness to come.  I am off to bed to get a head start on sleep, hopefully I will not have to leave the bed till a reasonable time and there will be no extra laundry for me.  Here’s hoping!

Pajamas for 2

Kind of a P.S. to last night.  J wore his new PJs all night.  this morning Little J asked to wear a dinosaur shirt.  Turns out after I went looking for his TREX shirt he was talking about the pajama shirt meant for J.  So I let him have it.  Rolled the sleeves up 3 times.  I think it will fall apart before he outgrows it. (size 6/7) for a 2 year old.

Our night fell apart around 6am when J woke up puking.  He’s been doing this off and on for almost a week.  Today it lasted much longer and was much worse than any other night/day.  He went to bed acting and feeling fine.  I’m not counting my chickens until 9am atleast (although he was fine on wed and thur.)

And as of now….I am queasy….Thanks J and the virus world.
